My 3rd submission to the ArtPolitic Abortion release.
This piece was the result of my research into the subject. While I support the right of women to choose, I found some of these statistics shocking. I wonder how many of those abortions that are preformed in Asia every year are infanticide due to the sex of the child. In any case, comments and discussion on the topic are welcome. Created using stock art here on DA, as well as photos and scans created by yours truly. Hopefully the Art Groups sections will be back up soon so I can put them where they belong. |

"...uncomfortable with anticipation
the eyes take on the look of a child
lost in bereavement and fear
if choices were easier
her shoulders would relax
tense and torn
the mind floods with a million
phrases of what ifs and self doubt
the bitterness, the wonder of mistakes..
is she doing the right thing?
will she wake tomorrow empty inside
feeling the cold hand of regret on her belly?
will she find herself oneday
hoping for the precious that she lost today?
there is a fear inside my heart
that she will look into the mirror
and not understand the person who stares back
that the bend in reality
will be bent forever...."
- ramblings taken from my journal, from a day that i will never forget. i was waiting within the beige walls and the stale smell of a hospital in support of my friend.

it's a hard decision. when the issue falls on your doorstep, whether you are pro choice or life, views that you once felt so certain about suddenly seem rippled like water.
this is an amazing piece of work. i love the images that you have sculpted together. thought provoking and intense.... your signature style!
